In South Africa, you may need IEC test reports for your heat pump business. They are IEC60335-2-40 and IEC 60335-1.
What’s IEC? IEC is the International Electrotechnical Commission, a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization, founded in 1906. The IEC’s members are National Committees, and they appoint experts and delegates coming from industry, government bodies, associations and academia to participate in the technical and conformity assessment work of the IEC. To know more about IEC please go to IEC official website.
IEC60335-1 is for “safety of household and similar electrical appliances”. The documentation of IEC60335-1 is here for reference (148 pages).
IEC60335-2-40 is “Particular requirements for electrical heat pumps, air conditioners and dehumidifiers”. The documentation is here for reference (42 pages).
CE certificate has EN60335, and CCC certificate (China) has GB60335. Unfortunately, neither of them can substitute IEC60335. Even if you already have CE certificate, you need to do the IEC test.
If you import heat pumps to South Africa, you will need to refer IEC test report on the heat pumps to the government. Then you will get a LOA (letter of authority) for your importing business (custom clearance, etc). This is the LOA ADMINISTRATION PROCEDURES.
WellFort provides IEC testing service with their heat pumps. For the products please go to their website.
